APD, ECSO conduct seatbelt checkpoints

The Atmore Police Department and the Escambia County Sheriff's Office recently released statistics on the latest checkpoints in the continuing Click It or Ticket campaign.
According to Atmore Assistant Police Chief Donnie Nunley, the APD conducted combination speeding and DUI checkpoints Aug. 23-27, in various locations throughout the city.
The following citations and warnings were issued:

Speeding – 56
Drivers license violations – 25
Equipment violations – 33
Seat belt violations – 7
Insurance violations – 7
Child restraint violations – 4
DUI – 3
Drug arrests – 3
Felony warrants served – 5
Misdemeanor warrants served – 18
Warnings
Speeding – 138
Drivers license violations – 69
Equipment violations – 66
Seat belt violations – 175
Insurance violations – 114
Child restraint violations – 36
DUI – 3
According to Major Mike Murphy, the SO conducted a seatbelt checkpoint on Aug. 28, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., at Highway 31 and Swift Mill Road in Atmore. The following citations and warnings were issued:

Drivers license violations – 4
Insurance violations – 3
Other – 3
Warnings
Seat belt violations – 4
Drivers license violations – 13
Insurance violations – 35
Other – 8
A total of 11 citations and 60 warnings were issued.
A seatbelt blitz was conducted Wednesday, Aug. 29, from 5 to 10 p.m., at County Road 4 and Highway 29. The following citations and warnings were issued:

Drug cases – 2
Warnings
Seat belt violations – 2
Drivers license violations – 6
Insurance violations – 11
Other – 10
A total of 7 citations and 29 warnings were issued.
A seatbelt blitz was conducted Wednesday, Aug. 30, from 5 to 10 p.m., at County Road 30 and Highway 21 in Huxford. The following citations and warnings were issued:

Other – 1
Warnings
Seat belt violations – 5
Drivers license violations – 7
Insurance violations – 26
Other – 25
A total of 8 citations and 63 warnings were issued.
