John B. "Nub" Dorriety

Mr. John B. "Nub" Dorriety, 85, died Friday, September 7, 2001, at a local hospital.
Mr. Dorriety was a native of Huxford and resident of Atmore for the past 70 years. He was a member of Huxford Local Lodge #779, First Canine Office 8 of the Atmore Police Department, a member of Atmore Baptist Temple, and Order of the Eastern Star. He was retired from Naval Air Station after 31 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mural Skinner Dorriety.
Mr. Dorriety is survived by two sons, Randy M. Dorriety and Terry Dorriety, both of Atmore and Wayne Dorriety of Lawton, Okla.; a sister, Mellie Dorriety of Huxford and three grandchildren, Brandon Dorriety of Lawton, Meghan Dorriety of Orlando and Dwight Dorriety of Tuscaloosa, Fla.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 9 at 2 p.m. at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. C. L. Langford officiating.
Burial followed at Serenity Gardens Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Rick Bilbro, Randy Baker, Gladden Dreadin, Charles Dorriety, Ronald Mosley and O'Neal Bell. Honorary pallbearers were the Masons, Alan White, Johnny Dorriety, Kenneth Jordan, Dillard Hixon, Tom Hixon and Hurston Dorriety.
