Mrs. Willie M. Dread, 80, of Atmore (Freemanville) died Wednedsay, October 31, 2001, at Atmore Community Hospital.
She was a native of Conecuh County and resident of Atmore for many years. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and had worked in private homes as a sitter with people.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Dread.
Mrs. Dread is survived by five daughters, Louise Johnson and Betty Armstron, both of Atmore, Mary Dread of Fairhope, Marjorie Dread of Mobile and Dorothy Gordon and her husband, Isaac, of New Castle, Del.; nine sons, Johnnie Dread Jr. and his wife, Ella, of Moss Point, Miss., Arthur Dread and his wife, Shirley, of New Orleans, La., Leroy Dread, Charlie Dread, and James Dread, all of Mobile, Clarence Dread and his wife, Octavia, of Fairhope, Levester Dread and his wife, Agnes, of Daphne, Benjamin Dread and his wife, Dodeen, of Jackson and Claude Dread of Atmore; four brothers, James C. Mitchell and his wife, Pearl, Melvin Mitchell and his wife, Catherine, and Homer Mitchell, all of Atmore, and Andrew J. Mitchell and his wife, Mary, of Jackson; 31 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 6 at 1 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Freemanville with the Rev. A. Bonner and Bishop Willie L. Williams officiating.
Burial was at Stallworth Cemetery.
Pallbearers were sons, grandsons and friends of the family.
Turner Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
