Mrs. Katie Ora Melton Sumerlin, 86, of Excel, died Friday, November 9, 2001 at Monroe County Hospital.
Mrs. Sumerlin was a native of Monroe County and lived in Atmore for a number of years before moving to Excel. She was retired form Vanity Fair Mills where she worked as an inspector. She was a member of Sardis Primitive Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Grady Melton and Adrian Sumerlin and her daughter, Joyce Jordan.
Mrs. Sumerlin is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Audry and Narvice Melton of Excel; her sister, Ruth Archer of Century; five grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 11 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home.
Funeral services will Sunday at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home at 2 p.m.
Burial will be at Memorial Gardens in Monroeville.
Monroe Chapel funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
