Mr. Wendell Barnes, 61, died Tuesday, November 6, 2001, in Atmore.
He was a native of Brewton and resident of Atmore for most of his life. He was a member of West Pensacola Masonic Lodge #296.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Alyne Barnes, and a sister, Marilyn Barnes.
Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife, Thelma Barnes of Atmore; two sons, Jim Barnes of Mobile and Doug Barnes of Atlanta, Ga.; a step-son, Lou Thrower and his wife, Kathy, of Cantonment; a step-daughter, Sharon Thrower of Houston, Texas; three brothers, Richard L. Barnes Jr. and his wife, Lola, of Rome, Ga., Harold Barnes and his wife, Mary, of Blue Ridge, Ga., and Bobby Barnes and his wife, Barbara, of Orange Beach; four sisters, Ila Merle and Edward Franklin of Brewton, Kathleen Reaves of Pace, Peggy and Hillery Grice of Irvington and Joan Nix and her husbnad, Homer, of Atmore and five step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, November 8 at 10:30 a.m. at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Kelly Brown officiating.
Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jim Barnes, Doug Barnes, Bernard Singleton, Ray Singleton, Albert Singleton and Jim Dinovo.
Eastside Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
