Mrs. Murvel Vickrey Helton, 81, died Friday, November 9, 2001, at a local hospital.

She was a native of Huxford and resident of Atmore for the past 62 years. She had retired from Vanity Fair after 32 years and she attended Community of Christ Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Neal Helton.
Mrs. Helton is survived by two sons, Donald Ray and his wife, Patsy, of Cantonment and Gary Helton of Atmore; a daughter, Glenda Helton and her husband, Rundall, of Carrolton, Ga.; a brother, Orville Vickrey of Mobile; two sisters, Eltra Mae Etheridge and her husband, Sid, of Atmore and Ellie Wiggins of Lillian, Ala., and two grandchildren, Michael Helton of Atlanta, Ga. and Sheron Rundall of Dallas, Ga.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 11 at 2:30 p.m. at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Elder Charles McPherson and Elder Glenn Wardrop officiating.

Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jimmy Vickrey, Larry Jackson, Weldon Vickrey, Lamar Wiggins, Glen Helton and Willard Latham. Honorary pallbearers were Leland Helton, Rodney Helton, Rick Wiggins, Gary Singleton, Alan Thomas and Bill Bickrey.
Eastside Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
