Mrs. Ethel Inez Petty, died Friday, December 14, 2001.
She was a 1932 graduate of Century High School and member of First Baptist Church of Pensacola. She was elected by her peers to sit the first Native American Indian Council of the Tri-State area in Alabama in 1966. She was a charter member of Los Florets Flower Club.
Mrs. Petty was preceded in death by her parents, Charles D. and Carrie Mary (Eddins) McCall; two brothers, Donald Dempsey McCall and Terry Striggins McCall and a sister, Jessie McCall Shell Jordan.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph J. Petty of McDavid; a daughter, Mary Petty Chirico of McDavid, a grandson, Joseph Gaylor Chirico and his wife, Carol, of Dover, Mass.; a granddaughter, Mary Olivia "Sissy" Chirico of Mechanicsville, N. Y.; three great-grandchildren, Jennifer Olivia Chirico, Matthew Adam Chirico and Michael Robert Chirico; many nieces, nephews and cousins, two brothers, Hiram Douglas McCall of Pensacola and Dr. Roger Patrick McCall of Jacksonville and two sisters, Charlie Mae Mims and Annie Ruth Graham, both of Pensacola.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 18 at 10 a.m. at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. R. P. McCall, the Rev. Dexter Truesdale and the Rev. Phil Enfinger officiating.
Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Basil Petty, Fred Petty, Raymond Truesdale, Calvin McCall, John Eddins and Buddy Godwin. Honorary pallbearers were Clarence Walker, Hiram D. McCall, Jake Godwin, Eddie Truesdale, Cary Ellis and Mr. Pugh.
