One dead, one injured in weekend wrecks
A Century, Florida man was killed in a one vehicle accident Saturday night on Highway 31 seven miles north of Atmore.
According to the Alabama State Troopers, James Edward Lord, 39, was killed as he was ejected from a 1998 Pontiac Bonneville driven by Anthony G. Roberts of Bay Minette.
Information obtained from the Troopers indicates that the vehicle left the roadway and overturned several times before ejecting Lord from the car.
Reports indicate that seatbelts were not used. There are no indications as to whether or not drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.
Roberts was also injured in the accident, but apparently was able to get to Atmore Community Hospital on his own for treatment.
According to the State Troopers' office in Evergreen, the accident was not reported until several hours after it occurred.
The accident is still under investigation and no more details are available at this time.
In an unrelated incident , Theodore Luker, 55, of Atmore, was injured in a one-vehicle accident that occurred near the Baldwin County line on Interstate 65 Friday night.
According to the State Troopers, Luker was injured when his 1989 Ford left the roadway.
No one else was injured in the wreck and Troopers said no other vehicles were involved.
Troopers were called to the scene at approximately 7:10 p.m. According to their records, the accident occurred near mile marker 46 on I-65.
The accident is still under investigation.
