James Roy Turner

The Rev. James Roy Turner, 85 died Friday, December 28, 2001.
Rev. Turner was a native of Tallapoosa County and resident of Atmore. He was a retired minister who pastored numerous area churchs for 48 years. He was also a member of the Masons for 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard Asbury and Minnie Alma Walls Turner.
Rev. Turner is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nell M. Turner of Atmore; three daughters, Sheila T. Broughton and her husband, Dan, of Opelika, Janice T. Smith and her husband, Mike, of Atmore and Kay A. Turner of Pensacola; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 30 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Rhodes, the Rev. Martin Weber and the Rev. Enon Ingram officiating.
Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Kevin Broughton, Brian Smith, Ben Smith, Turner McMurphy, Justin McMurphy and Brad Kirkpatrick.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
