The owner of the Snappy Car Wash on Hwy. 21 was held at gunpoint Tuesday.
Two black males wearing large coats approached the owner, Pete Helton, at approximately 9:20 p.m., one brandishing a 32 calliber blue steel revolver and demanded money.
Helton told the men where the money was kept. One, described as "smaller and lighter in color" handed over the gun to the taller male and went outside to Helton's van. He later returned and demanded more money.
After assaulting Helton with a wooden stick the two men left.
Helton said the men took two plastic containers, one containing $125 in assorted coins and another containing keys to the Helton's Atmore and Brewton locations.
Police later recovered the bucket containing the coins, but advised the Bay Minette Police Department to watch the Bay Minette location closely in case the men attempted to return there.
The Atmore PD also ordered extra patrols on Helton's Atmore store location in case the men attempted to return.
No suspects have been named in, and the case has been turned over to city investigators.
