Jackson arrested on drug charges

Officials with 21st Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force and the Atmore Police Department arrested an Atmore man last Monday for running a methamphetamine lab from his home.
Willie H. "Bill" Jackson Jr., 38, was arrested Jan. 15 at approximately 1:30 a.m. at his residence on 209 Medical Park Dr. after APD and Drug Task Force officers executed a search warrant.
After searching the residence officers found an undisclosed amount of crystal methamphetamine along with precursor chemicals for the manufacture of what is commonly called "crystal meth."
Officers also found an undisclosed amount of marijuana and various drug paraphernalia.
The date of Jackson's trial has not been set.
The Drug Task Force is comprised of officials with the APD, Escambia County Sheriff's Office, East Brewton Police Department, Brewton Police Department, Flomaton Police Department, Poarch Creek Indian Police Department, Escambia County District Attorney's Office and the Escambia County Commission.
The Drug Task Force receives 75 percent of its funding from a grant funded by the Bureau of Justice Affairs Division of the United States Department of Justice and which is administered by the Alabama Department of Economic Affairs. The remainder of the funding is provided by the Sheriff's office, APD, BPD and the DA's office.
