The Escambia Academy Cougars also began their week on a good note as they "drubbed" Clarke Prep by 39 points, 63-24, Tuesday night in Clarke Prep.
The game was never close for the Cougars, as they jumped out to a 22 point in the first quarter on their way to a 18-point lead, 22-4, going into the second quarter.
"The game was pretty much over after the first quarter, " Escambia Academy Head Coach Chad Prewitt said. "They could not handle our defense, and we could not be stopped on offense."
The second quarter was not any different for the Cougars as they scored 22 points again in the quarter on their way to a 30-point lead, 44-14, heading into half-time.
The Cougars slowed down their scoring in the third quarter, as they only scored 10 points for the quarter. The Cougars still managed to outscore Clarke Prep 10-6 for the quarter though, on their way to a 34-point lead, 54-20, heading into the fourth quarter.
The Cougars put away Clarke Prep in the last quarter as they held them to only four points for the quarter. The Cougars scored nine points for the quarter though, as they added to their substantial lead by five points, 63-24.
"I was very proud of the way we played defense tonight, " Coach Prewitt said. "We played good man to man and great half-court defense tonight."
" I was also impressed with the way we played as a team, " Prewitt said. "Our intensity was great, even after we were up all those points."
Justin Shirley lead the Cougars in points on the night with 15 on the night. Robert Hardy followed with 13 points on the night. Cole Norton and Jace Beasley followed with nine and seven points respectively.
