Mrs. Pearlie Mae Knight, 84, died Friday, February 15, 2002, at her residence.
She was a native of Coy in Wilcox County and resident of Atmore for many years. She worked in housekeeping in the hotel industry and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph Powe, Cuff Kennedy and Louis Kennedy; her husband, Jimmy Knight; her parents, Rosa M. Peterson and Will Finklea; three sons, Clifford Knight, Harvey Knight and Horace Knight and a daughter, Rosie Mae Woods.
Mrs. Knight is survived by two daughters, Arcile Knight of Atmore and Geneva Young and her husband, Charles Young Sr., of Pascagoula, Miss.; a son, Robert Knight of Atmore; a sister, Mary P. Montgomery and her husband, Tommie, of Detroit, Mich.; a brother, Willie Powe of Slidell, La.; 25 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, February 22 from 1 to 8 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel with a family hour from 7 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 23 at 2 p.m. at Gaine Chapel AME Church with the Rev. Timothy A. Days officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be at Stallworth Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Turner Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
