A child welfare check Thursday night led to the arrest of two women on charges of manufacturing crystal methamphetamines.
Stephanie C. Holland, 35, and Alma Hall Taylor, 39, both of 1108 Davis Drive, Atmore, were arrested on charged of three counts of unlawful of possession of a controlled substance, one count of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance.
On March 28 agents with the 21st Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force were assisting the Alabama Department of Human Resources on a child welfare check.
The task force had received information that a child had been exposed to chemicals used in the manufacture of crystal methamphetamines.
After inspecting the home agents found a crystal methamphetamines lab and chemicals used in the manufacturing crystal methamphetamines.
Agents also recovered several grams of crystal methamphetamines at the home.
Chemists with from the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences responded to the scene and took samples of all of the chemicals.
Ferguson-Harbor, a hazardous chemical clean up crew from Pearl, Miss. Responded and took custody of the lab.
The 21st Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force is comprised of the following law enforcement agencies: Escambia County Sheriff's Department, Atmore Police Department, East Brewton Police Department, Brewton Police Department, Flomaton Police Department, Escambia County District Attorney's Office and the Escambia County Commission.
The Task Force receives 75 percent of its funding from a grant funded by the Bureau of Justice Affairs Division of the United State Department of Justice and which is administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs. The Escambia County Sheriff's Department, Atmore Police Department, Brewton Police Department and the Escambia County District Attorney's Office provide the remainder of the funding.
