The Evangel Christian Academy Lions made the long trip from Montgomery this past Monday to tangle with the Cougars of Canoe.
Well, the Cougars gave the Lions all that they could handle and more in that tangle, as they would pound the Lions 9-4.
Tripp Dawson would kill any hopes of a Evangel victory with a masterful performance on the mound. Dawson would give up four runs(two unearned) on six hits, while striking out an amazing 11 Evangel batters along the way.
Michael Cannon lead the way for the Cougars at the plate against the Lions. He had two hits, two RBI's, and scored three runs for the Cougars. Leadoff man Bradford Price was next for the Cougars as he got on base three out of four times and scored two runs.
Kevin Adair and Tripp Dawson both added one hit and one RBI apiece. Billy McCann would plate one run on one hit, while Josh Morgan would add one hit and two runs. Cody White would score one run to round out the Cougars offense.
Defensively, the Cougar's Tripp Dawson would pick off two runners trying to steal to kill any chance of a comeback by the Lions. Catcher Kevin Adair would also throw out a Lion trying to steal.
The win improved the Cougars record to one game above .500 at 5-4, while more importantly improving their area record to 2-0.
