Escambia County High School Head Coach Frankie Bell said that their were two big factors that cost the Blue Devils the victory in the their game against T.R. Miller: poor tackling and bad field position.
Field position is a big part of football, a sort of game within the game so to speak. When a team wins a game they usually win the field position battle as well, Bell said.
It is a lot easier to move the ball down field with only 40 or 50 yards to go down. But the Devils didn't have it easy, with the Devils forced to move 70 or 80 yards throughout most of the game.
Tackling is one of the main things the Devils will be working on in practice this week before their game against Charles Henderson, Bell said, a game that promises to be one of the toughest game of the Blue Devils schedule.
Henderson was a dominant force in the playoffs last year, and lost only four seniors, an experience factor that ECHS is without.
They also have a lot of depth at every position and will come out in a lot of different ways, Bell said.
The game will be played at Troy beginning at 7:30.
