While most private schools did not dissegragate SAT9 information such as race, income lvel and gender in its test returns like state returns, schools like EA are using the data to better understand the strengths and weaknesses of their students.
The overall school average was 76.8%-26.8% over the national average. The school was also very competitive with other AISA (Alabama Independent School Association) schools.
The school tests all students first through ninth grade rather than only the every other grade testing done by most schools.
Jane Corman, Board Chairman at EA, said that the scores showed great improvement from last year's scores.
First graders at EA scored an incredibly high 92%. The lowest scoring grade was the ninth grade class at 63%, still above the national average.
Branum said the main purpose of the tests is improving education.
