James Crawford has been named News Editor of Atmore Newspapers, Inc., publishers of The Atmore Advance and The Escambia Advertiser.
"We're very happy to have James joining our staff," said Paul Keane, publisher. "We feel that he brings some fresh ideas, solid experience and a good background to our company. Not only will he become an integral part of our newspaper, but of the Atmore community as a whole."
Crawford joins Atmore Newspapers from University Printing in Tuscaloosa, where he served as a cost estimator. Before that, he was an editorial assistant and columnist for "Overdrive Magazine," a trade publication for the trucking industry.
He also served at one time as assistant sports information director at Shelton State College and was also editor in chief of the Shelton State Courier and the Shelton State Courier Online.
"I am ecstatic to be here," Crawford said. "I am looking forward to all the possibilities for the future of this newspaper and the community.
"Everyone that I have met here has been extremely nice to both me and my family, and my family loves it here already."
In addition to his editorial experience, Crawford also has experience in website design and programming. The Atmore Advance currently has a website at www.atmoreadvance.com.
Crawford and his wife, Scarlett, have a daughter, Teather, 11.
