Alma Burroughs Watson

Funeral services for Alma Burroughs Watson, 91, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 1, 2002, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, with Chaplain Edison Burleson officiating. Interment will follow at the Old Crabtree Cemetery in Barrineau Park.
Born on Jan. 5, 1911 in McKinnonville, Fla., she attended Tate School and graduated in 1927. She attended Florida Women's College (FSU) and taught at McDavid, Bratt, Ernest Ward and Molino schools.
She married Chester E. Watson on July 2, 1944, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 1990. A brother, Harold Burroughs, and a sister, Violet Powell, also preceded her in death.
She spent her entire life in the Barrineau Park area. She was a member of the Methodist Church for 79 years and took an active role in church activities as long as she was able. She spent many years as a leader in the 4-H Clubs in Escambia County and was a member of the Enon Homemakers. She was a member of the Barrineau Park Historical Society. She died on Nov. 28, 2002.
She is survived by a brother, Eschol Burroughs of Perry, Fla.; a son, Chester E. "Butch" (Mary) Watson of McDavid; a daughter, Lynn (Gary) Welch of McDavid; two grandsons, Dale and Lee Welch; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Burroughs, two "special angels," Hellen Stone and Nita Berry, both of Barrineau Park; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be John Burroughs, Michael Burroughs, Jerry Burroughs, Jr., Jeff Burroughs, Larry Vaughn, Rodney "Speedy" Vaughn, Billy Vaughn and Genaro Pargo. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Barrineau Park Historical Society.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Barrineau Park Historical Society or the charity of your choice.

L.B. "Shorty" Findley

Funeral services for L.B. "Shorty" Findley, 73, were held on Nov. 29, 2002 at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, with Rev. James Peacock and Rev. David Dykes officiating. Interment followed at Green Acres Cemetery.
A native and lifetime resident of Century, he was a member of the Blue Branch Hunting Club, a retired employee from Champion after 41 years, an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the New Life Pentacostal Holiness Church of Century. He died on Nov. 26, 2002 in Century.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Findley of Byrneville; his son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Sharon Findley of Byrneville; a brother, Melvin Findley of Byrneville; a sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Elson Hood of Brierfield, Ala.; three grandchildren, Janea Stillwell of Pensacola, Karen Jones of Montgomery and Heather Jordan of Pensacola; and five great-grandchildren, Josiah Stillwell, Megan Jones, Hannah Jones, Cameron Kalfus and McKayla McConathy.
Pallbearers were John Medici, David Findley, Freddie Findley, Danny Findley, Jerry Godwin and Joseph Dykes. Honorary pallbearers were Eddie Williams, Bo Cooper, Dooley Mathis, Edgard Croley, Frank Godwin and Wayne Godwin.
Eastside Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Kierra Lashay Ison

Funeral services for Kierra Lashay Ison, four months old, were held on Nov. 30, 2002 at Turner Funeral Chapel, with Apostle Hattie Bishop officiating. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery in Atmore.
The infant died on Nov. 25, 2002 at Atmore Community Hospital.
She is survived by her mother and father, Mellon Ison and Mitchell I. Ison, both of Atmore; a sister, Tanya M. Ison of Pennsylvania; three brothers, Mitchell Lee Ison, Jr., of Queens, N.Y., and Travis Lee Ison and Mitchell Deril Ison, both of Atmore; and her grandparents, Louise Johnson and Oneal Johnson, both of Atmore, and Mary Lee Williams of Bronx, N.Y.
Turner Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
