EA Lady Cougars defeat Clarke Prep, 27-13

The Escambia Academy junior varsity teams faced Clarke Prep on Dec. 3 at home and hosted a JV tournament on Saturday.
The Lady Cougars began the action Tuesday night as they defeated Clarke, 27-13. Lori Bonds was the leading scorer, with 12 points on the night. Jaime Drew and Alison Thomas each had four points. Courtney Smith had three points and Ellen Corman scored two.
The boys also defeated Clarke on Tuesday, 30-28. Cody Norton led the scoring for the Cougars with nine points. He was followed by Joseph Drew, Bruce Smith, Andrew Lambeth, and Chris Folsom with four points each. Jared Vandlandingham had two points.
On Saturday, the Lady Cougars defeated Fort Dale Academy, 37-29, in the first game to advance in the tournament. Bonds and Drew led the scoring in the game with points each. Thomas followed with eight points, Smith had five, and Corman scored four.
In the second game EA faced Sparta Academy. The Cougars were defeated by Sparta, 31-29. Thomas scored 12 points to lead the Lady Cougar scoring. She also had three rebounds. Drew had nine points and two rebounds, Corman scored four points and had four rebounds, and Bonds had four points and five rebounds. Morgan Doriety and Smith each had one rebound.
The Cougar junior varsity boys were defeated, 36-30, by Fort Dale Saturday. Norton led the scoring with seven points, followed by Smith and Lambeth with six points each. Drew had five points, Matt Ash had four, and Branden Moore had two.
Both the Escambia Academy varsity and junior varsity teams were in action Tuesday at Wilcox. The junior varsity teams will take on Faith Academy at home Thursday at 5 p.m.
