Atmore Insurance owner John James shakes the hand of his son, Army Spc. 4 Ryan James, in the Atmore Advance offices on Saturday, a day after he arrived in Pensacola from Afghanistan for a Christmas leave. James and his father spent the morning talking about their experiences in war, the younger James on the war on terrorism and the elder on Vietnam. James, a 2000 Escambia High School graduate and football player who turned 21 in Afghanistan, is on leave for two weeks and will return to Fort Bragg, near Fayettville, N.C. to be reassigned to a new mission.
