Two cancer support groups have been formed in Atmore and will begin meeting on Jan. 20, it was announced recently.,
"As far as I know, these are the first time programs like this from the American Cancer Society have been offered in Atmore on a regular basis," said Joe Whitehead, community representative for ACS. "We're glad that we can provide these services in Atmore so people don't have to travel to utilize these services."
A Man to Man program, open to the public but normally focused on prostate cancer in men, will be held at 6 p.m. at First Assembly of God. A Woman's Cancer Support Group will meet at the same time in the same location.
Meetings for both support groups will be held on the third Monday of each month from now on.
