EA Cougars roll through weekend

Last weekend all four Escambia Academy teams traveled to the Montgomery area to take on Calvary Christian and Taylor Road Academy.
The JV girls began the action Friday afternoon as they defeated Calvary Christian.
The JV boys lost to Calvary 45-31 Friday. Leading the team was Andrew Lambeth with 13 points. He was followed by Cody Norton with eight, Bruce Smith with four, and Joseph Drew, Brandon Moore, and Chris Folsom with two points each.
The Lady Cougars continued their winning ways on Friday as they slaughtered the Calvary girls 61-15. Kaylie Castleberry led the team as she scored 11 points. Rayleen Miller scored 10 points, Meagan Jackson scored seven points, Jessica Gibbs and Jaime Drew each scored six points, Mandy Norton scored five, Lori Bonds and Alison Thomas each scored four points, and Anna Parish, Kerrianne Castleberry, Shelby Hester, and Morgan Dorriety scored two points each.
The Cougar boys also defeated Calvary Friday as they won 85-46 with scoring by every member of the team. Jace Beasley led the team with 20 points and five rebounds. Robert Hardy followed with 17 points and nine rebounds. Cody White scored ten points and made three rebounds, Cole Norton had eight points and four rebounds, Zach Smith had eight points and five rebounds, Chris Moore had six points and four rebounds, Billy McCann made four points and one rebound, Steven Shirley had four points and three rebounds, David Daniel had three points and two rebounds, Bradford Price had three points and one rebound, and Zach Thomas had two points and one rebound.
On Saturday, the Cougars played at Taylor Road Academy. Once again the JV girls were victorious.
The JV boys were defeated 46-40 on Saturday. Norton led the team with 14 points. Drew scored eight points, Lambeth scored seven points, Moore scored four points, Matt Ash scored three points, and Smith and Folsom each had two.
The girls topped Taylor Road in another high scoring victory as they went up 58-35 over the home team. Jackson led the scoring in the victory with 17 points. Norton scored 11, her season high. Kaylie Castleberry scored eight points, Miller scored seven points, Bonds scored five, Parish scored four, and Drew, Gibbs, and Corman each scored two points. Kaylie Castleberry led in rebounds with six. Gibbs and Bonds had four rebounds each, Parish, Drew, and Thomas made two each, and Norton, Miller, Kerrianne Castleberry, Hester, and Smith each made one rebound.
The Cougar boys topped Taylor Road 66-44 on Saturday afternoon. Beasley led the Cougars with a season-high 21 points. Hardy and Norton each scored nine points, and Moore and Smith scored seven points each.
Hardy led the team with nine rebounds, Norton, Shirley, and Beasley each made three, Daniel, White, and Moore had two rebounds each, and McCann and Price each made one.
