Deborah Hammons was elected the President of the Atmore Area YMCA, Inc. in ceremonies held in December. Hammons succeeds Anthony Marshall as president of this area's largest social service agency, serving almost 1000 program participants and 1300 facility members in 2002.
Joining Hammons as officers for 2003 are Seth Dettling as vice president; Deborah Daniels as secretary/treasurer; and Anthony Marshall as past president. The balance of the YMCA board members includes Tim Godwin, Mike Glavin, Ellis Beachy, Natalie Stevenson, Larry Grant, Janet Allen, Ronnie Huskey, David Carter, Chris Kirk, Jack Lufkin, Susan Wicker, Joan Baltes, Paul Keane and Jamel Moore.
"Our board of directors are the membership and community representatives of the YMCA," said Executive Director Terry Godwin. "Board members are elected to staggered three-year terms. They are primarily responsible for policy creation and overall finances of our association.
"2003 is promising great things for our YMCA thanks to our community and great board of directors."
