Escambia Academy proved why it was the No. 1 seed in the AISA 2A East Area 1 Tournament Thursday night, dispatching first round opponents with a pair of routs.
On the boys side, the Cougars took care of No. 4 seed Calvary Christian easily, coming away with a 99-48 victory. All 11 EA players scored, with five reaching double figures. David Daniel and Cole Norton led the way with 15 points each while Cody White and and Chris Moore poured in 10 a piece and Jace Beasley added 10.
The victory improved EA to 21-4 overall and moved the team to Friday night's champinship game.
On the girl side, the Lady Cougars rolled past Calvary Christian, taking a solid 68-12 triumph. EA opened the contest with 30 points in the first quarter, then cruised to the victory.
Jessica Gibbs led the onslaught with 12 points while Jamie Drew added 10 and Mandi Norton pulled down 10 rebounds.
The Lady Cougars improved to 22-3 overall heading into Friday night's championship game against Lowndes Academy.
