The Third Annual Miss Williams Station Pageant will begin at 7 p.m. today at the ECHS Hodnette Auditorium on Presley Street. Fifteen young women from across Alabama will compete in talent, swimsuit and evening gown.
The pageant is an official preliminary of the Miss Alabama/Miss America Scholarship Programs. It is one of the few Miss Alabama/Miss America qualifiers in South Alabama and the only one in Escambia County.
The students from the Atmore Dance Department, instructed by Reed Adams, will perform routines in ballet, tap and modern jazz while contestants are backstage between segments. Also, the Escambia County Middle School Dance Department will entertain the audience with selections from its 2002-2003 touring performance.
Contestants and their families will stay at the Best Western, the pageant's official host hotel, over the weekend.
Officials expect winners to be crowned at around 9:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
Tickets will be sold at the door for $3 for children 12 years and younger and $6 for adults.
