Lady Cougars fall in state semifinals

MONTGOMERY – Sumter Academy put a sudden halt of Escambia Academy's girls basketball team's season Thursday, taking a 50-40 win in the AISA Class 2A State Seminfinals at Huntingdon College.
The loss ends the Lady Cougars season at 23-5. The Lady Wildcats, now 19-7, advance to Friday's state championship game.
The Lady Cougars struggled offensively, hitting on just over 30 percent of their shots and connecting on only one three-point attempt.
Lori Bonds led EA in scoring with 13 points while Meagan Jackson added 11.
