Charles Henderson sweeps twinbill with ECHS

Escambia County High School's varsity baseball team suffered two setbacks Saturday at home, dropping two 12-1 decision in a doubleheader against Charles Henderson High School.
In the first game, CHHS scored six runs in the fourth, two more in the fifth and four more in the seventh to come away with the victory. The only run for the Blue Devils came in the bottom of the seventh when Norris Brooks crossed the plate.
For the game, the Blue devils wedre held to three hits, with those coming from Franklin Boykin, Brooks and Chris Graham. ECHS hitters struck out a total of eight times and drew only two walks.
The Blue Devils gave up nine earned runs off 15 hits while walking only two and striking out four. Graham and Anthony Patrick picked up the duties on the mound for ECHS.
The second game was much the same, with Charles Henderson scored three runs in the first, two in the second, one in the third and six in the sixth to come away with the sweep. Nick McGhee scored in the bottom of hte third for the Blue Devils' only run of the contest.
In the game, ECHS managed just four hits, with Josh Montel collecting two and Craig Montel and Trevor Daughtry collecting the other two. CHHS pitchers gave up only one walk and struck out eight in seven innings of work.
Norris took the loss on the mound, giving up eight hits and five earned runs while striking ou three in 4-2/3 innings of work.
