Lady Cougars move to 6-4 with decision

On March 21 the Escambia Academy Lady Cougars faced Evangel Christian Academy at home, defeating the Lions 10-0.
Lori Bonds pitched the entire game for Escambia, giving up no runs, two walks, and striking out eight in the Cougars' shut-out victory.
Leading the team offensively were Mandi Norton who went 3-4 with two RBI and one run scored and Mallory Martin who was 0-2 with three RBI. Meagan Jackson went 2-3 and scored twice, Stacy Gibbs was 1-3 with one RBI, Holly Harrison was 1-2 with two runs scored and one RBI, Courtney Smith went 0-2 and had one RBI, Bonds was 0-2 with a run scored, Jaime Drew went 1-1 and scored, and Shelby Moore scored one run.
On April 1 the Lady Cougars traveled to Lowndes Academy where they were defeated 9-2 in six innings in a game riddled with errors.
Bonds pitched two and two-thirds innings, giving up four walks, hitting two batters, striking out one, and allowing seven runs. Gibbs pitched the final three and one-third innings, allowing two runs and striking out four.
The Cougars struggled offensively against S. Hodge, the Lowndes pitcher. Jackson went 2-3 and scored one run, Bonds went 2-4 with one RBI, and Gibbs scored on a passed ball. No one else had a hit in the game.
The Lady Cougars were back home on April 5 against Fort Dale Academy. Gibbs led the Cougars to their14-2 victory as she pitched five innings, allowing two runs, four walks, and striking out five batters, as well as going 3-4 with five RBI. Holly Harrison was 0-2 with two RBI, and Bonds, Drew, Elisabeth Hendrix, Jennifer Watson, Amanda Hetzel, Smith, and Martin each had one RBI.
The Lady Cougars are now 6-4 on the season. They will face Calvary Christian Academy on Friday on the road.
