Council to attend summit

Monday's regularly scheduled meeting of the Atmore City Council has been moved to 4 p.m. Tuesday so that city officials can participate in an "Economic Development Summit."
Mayor Howard Shell and city councilmembers will be working in cooperation with the Clarke County Economic Development Partnership to conduct the "Economic Development Summit" in Thomasville Monday afternoon at Pineview Baptist Church.
Congressman Jo Bonner and Congressman Artur Davis will be in attendance, as well as representatives from Senator Richard Shelby's and Senator Jeff Sessions' offices.
In an effort to bring the entire Southwest Alabama area together, Mobile Mayor Mike Down and officials from the Port of Mobile will be attending to offer their input and support.
The meeting will begin with a roundtable discussion at 4 p.m., followed by an open public forum at 5:30 p.m. The meeting is also being coordinated by the Alabama Tombigbee Regional Commission and its executive director, John Clyde Riggs.
