Fly all Day at Mayfest
The Atmore Ace Modelers R/C Model Airplane Club will be hosting their second annual fun fly on May 3rd, 2003 from 9 AM to 3 PM. This event will take place in the large field west of the Mayfest activities and will feature several types of R/C model airplanes, and several types of events. No admission and lots of fun. Celine Meador
Impressionist Photographs
An Atmore native, Celine Meador began taking pictures of anything and everything with her Brownie Hawkeye when she was seven, but she began her photography career as a news and feature reporter for a Florida daily newspaper after majoring in photojournalism at the University of Alabama where she expanded her love of taking pictures to the creative magic of darkroom work. She had her first one-man photographic exhibition when she was only twenty-three years old. Later in magazine publishing and corporate communications, Celine received numerous professional and journalistic awards including Who's Who Among American Women.
After moving to the Cayman Islands to work for the Nor'wester Magazine, she was drawn by a strong love of the sea to begin an entirely new career as a managing partner of Spanish Bay Reef, a diving resort which catered to divers and underwater photographers from all over the world. Intrigued with the beauty and brilliant color of the underwater, Celine logged hundreds of Caribbean dives, Nikonos camera in hand. This led her to become a pioneer in publishing limited editions prints of paintings of underwater landscapes.
The author of several books, her most recent, Star of Wonder (Blue Canoe Books) and Dare To Be Different (Tyndale House Publishers), are available online and in bookstores. Celine has also authored a line of prints and greeting cards available in gift shops.
Celine does private commission work in writing, photography, graphic design-specializing in impressionist portraits. She lives near Chapel Hill, North Carolina with her husband, Aubrey, daughter, Reed-and very near her other two daughters and their six children!
