Alabama Power promotes managers Sam Covert and Mark Custred

MOBILE – Alabama Power Company recently announced the promotion of Sam Covert to Mobile Division Area Manager – North.
In his newly created position, Covert will be responsible for supporting the company's efforts in Escambia, Clarke, Choctaw, Monroe and Washington counties. Covert will focus on economic and community development, local and state legislative affairs and the overall management of company offices in his service area.
"Having served the company and his community for 29 years in a number of leadership roles, Sam brings a wealth of experience to his new assignment," said Cheryl Thompson, Mobile Division vice president.
Covert holds a Batchelor of Science degree from the University of South Alabama. He and his wife Debbie have three grown children. They will reside in Monroeville.
Mark Custred, formerly Mobile Distribution Operations Center Manager was recently promoted to Southwest Operations Manager. His duties include the management of engineering projects and utility crews and personnel in the Atmore, Bay Minette, Brewton, Jackson, Monroeville and Thomasville Areas.
"Mark has 23 years of operating experience under his belt. He brings leadership skills to his new assignment that will serve both our company and our customers well," said Bob Holley, Mobile Division Operation Manager.
Custred holds an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of South Alabama. He and his wife Theresa have two children. They will reside in Satsuma.
