Unity Day scheduled for June 14

The Thirteenth Annual Unity in the Community Day will be held Saturday, June 14, at Houston Avery Park on MLK Avenue in Atmore.
The event, sponsored by the Concerned Citizens of Atmore, will take place from 9:30-5:30 and include many events and activities.
Some of these events include performances by the Expose Dance Team and the First Assembly of God puppet team, a MLK Little League baseball tournament, a basketball tournament and children's fun fair, as well as gospel singing throughout the day. There will be several contests held throughout the day, including a cake walk ($1 per walk), side walk art contest, Beautiful Baby Contest and talent show for children and adults. A drumline playoff will also be held for $5 per entry with first, second and third place prizes awarded.
Arts and crafts booths, face painting, a car show, pony rides, horse show, "Rap Off" with 93 WBLX, a demonstration by American Tae Kwon Do and much more will also be a part of the day's festivities.
The Holy Ghost Soldiers of Elbethel Holiness Church will be the program conductors. The Concerned Citizens of Atmore was founded in 1991. The group has sponsored Unity in the Community day since that time.
