"I look forward to having the opportunity to travel throughout Escambia County to meet with my constituents," Bonner said. "I certainly hope each of you will find the meeting closest to your home and take the opportunity to come out and discuss issues of concern to you, both here and in Washington."
Bonner, R-Mobile, served as press secretary during former U.S. Rep. Sonny Callahan's first campaign for Congress in 1984. He became Callahan's congressional press secretary in 1985 and his chief of staff in 1989.
Shortly after Bonner's election Majority Whip Roy Blunt named Bonner an assistant whip.
Bonner was tapped to serve on three key House committees, budget, agriculture and science.
Bonner was born in Selma and reared in the town of Camden in rural Wilcox County. In 1982, he received his BA in journalism from the University of Alabama. Bonner is married to the former Jane Lambert of Mobile. They are parents of a daughter, Jennifer Lee, 7, and a son, Josiah Robins, III, 5.
