Robert David Griffis, 34, died Wednesday in Seneca, S.C.
A native of Century, he had been a resident of McDavid for the last five years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a loving father and Protestant by faith. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, J.D. Griffis.
He is survived by his mother, Patsy Griffis, of McDavid; son Patrick Griffis of McDavid and the mother of his child, Sherry; grandmother Ruby Griffis of McDavid; Bryan Griffis of Flomaton, who was like a son and Junior Emmons of Brewton, who was like a brother; two aunts, Brenda Hanks of Century and Annette Lambeth of Atmore; five uncles, Gary, Dennis, Tony and Danny Griffis, all of McDavid, and Wayne Griffis of Flomaton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Eastside Chapel Funeral home with Brother Cliff Emmons officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Methodist Cemetery in Jay.
Pallbearers will be Jackie Carnley, Bud Campbell, Jeff Johnson, Johnny Griffis, Chad Hanks and Rodney Griffis. Honorary pallbearers will be James Emmons and Mark Hennington.
Eastside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

John Henry Fagin, 81, of Brewton died Friday. A native of Monticello, Fla., he was a plumber and an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Mattie Fagin of Atmore, and three sons: Jimmy Lee Fagin of Riviera Beach, Fla,; Clarence Fagin and Rufus Fagin, both of Atmore, and two grandchildren.
