Canes rattle Panthers' cage

FLOMATON – The Hurricanes left the field Friday night 2-0 on the season with a big win over the Georgiana Panthers, 42-12. It was the first regional game for the Hurricanes.
The Canes started with the ball in the first half. The Panthers' defense held the Canes over to the punt. The Panthers fumbled the ball and Alphonso Wesley recovered for the Canes on the 44 yard line. The Canes drove to the 1 yard line and C.J. Williams took it in for the touchdown, but the point after failed.
The Canes kicked to the Panthers, who threw an interception to Leonte Johnson to end the first quarter, with the Canes leading 6-0.
To start off the second, Alphonso Wesley ran in from the 9 yard line, taking the Canes to a 12-0 lead. The point after failed again. The Canes kicked to the Panthers, then held them to the punt. The Canes drove the ball to the 12, where Brian Wesley took it in for a touchdown. Canes lined up for two, giving them a 20-0 lead.
Canes kicked to the Panthers, where Johnson received and ran 64 yards and took it in from the 1 yard line, scoring a TD for the Panthers. The PAT was blocked by Leonte Johnson, bringing the score to 20-6, with the Canes on top.
The Panthers kicked, Brian Wesley received and ran 61 yards for a Canes touchdown. They lined up for two, taking the score to 28-6 for the Canes at the half.
To start off the second half, the Panthers received the ball, only to throw an interception to Dannon Lisenby for the Canes. The Canes fumbled the ball to the Panthers, where Johnson went in from the 5 for the TD. The PAT was no good and the score was 28-12, Canes.
The Panthers kicked the ball, but the Canes were unable to move it and were forced to punt it away. The Panthers fumbled and the Canes recovered, ending the third quarter.
At the beginning of the fourth quarter, C.J. Williams threw a 23-yard pass to Alphonso Wesley for a touchdown. The PAT was no good, leaving the score 34-12 in favor of the Canes.
The Hurricanes kicked the ball to the Panthers, but held them and took over. Brian Wesley ran the ball 17 yards for the goal, and C.J. Williams made good on 2 more points, ending the game with a 42-12 final score.
