Bodiford takes reins at Advance

Chuck Bodiford, 27, has been named publisher of The Atmore Advance and The Escambia Advertiser and president of Atmore Newspapers, Inc. He succeeds Brian Giles, who is leaving to pursue other opportunities.
Bodiford began work in his new role Friday.
He is a native of Atmore and a graduate of Escambia County High School and Jefferson Davis Community College. After graduating in 1997 from Jefferson Davis with an associate's in occupational education, Bodiford joined the United States Air Force, serving as an electrical mechanical technician based at Minot, N.D. After one tour of duty in the Air Force Bodiford returned home to Atmore where he has worked for the past two years as circulation director of The Atmore Advance and The Brewton Standard.
Bodiford and his wife, Stephanie Murph, also an Atmore native, are expecting their first child in November. Stephanie is employed by Poarch Creek Indians as a pharmacy technician.
"I am very excited the opportunity to lead my hometown newspaper," Bodiford said. "This allows me the opportunity to become an integral part of our community and I look forward to working closely with our team and the citizens of Atmore to carry on the tradition of publishing a quality newspaper that shares in the community's achievements and pride."
Bodiford and his family are active members of Unity Baptist Church. He is the son of Charlie and Gwen Bodiford of Atmore.
