I-65 wreck injures drivers, passengers of two vehicles

An accident on I-65 Sunday afternoon sent at least six people to area hospitals.
According to the Alabama Highway Patrol, two vehicles were southbound on the Interstate about 1 p.m. Sunday. While the particulars of the collision are still under investigation, police reports indicate that Arvilla Kelley, 72, of Foley, was driving a 1998 Mercury. She was injured in the accident and was transported to North Baldwin Medical Center.
The other vehicle was a 1987 Chevrolet, driven by Timothy Letts, 37, of Peterman. Letts was also injured in the collision and was transported to University of South Alabama Medical Center at Mobile.
Passengers in Letts' auto were also injured.
Kara Benson, 34, was transported, although the hospital was unclear.
Chanel Benson, 13, was injured and transported to University of South Alabama Medical Center.
Jimekia Benson, 10, and Jimenese Benson, 12, were both taken to North Baldwin.
Jimothy Benson, 7, was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.
Trooper Thomas Davis worked the accident, which remains under investigation. No tickets had been issued as of press time Tuesday.
Poarch Police and Fire Departments also responded to the scene of the accident.
