T.R. Miller Band will be wrapping gifts for donations from 1-6 p.m. They will be wrapping each weekend until Christmas at Hott Zone in Brewton, beside Hibbet Sports. The band is raising money for a trip to Orlando in April

Atmore Community Cancer Support Group will be meeting at the First Assembly of God Church on S. Main Street. The special speaker will be Stacey Thallemer, area director for the American Cancer Society. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will convene at 7. Everyone is invited. Such A Lot Like Me
7 p.m. in the auditorium of Atmore Baptist Temple. The student of Temple Christian Academy will
present this combination of poetry, prose and song. Public invited, admission is free.
Dec. 19
Nokomis Volunteer Fire Department will hold its first Christmas Dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the fire station on James Road. All residents, family and friends are invited to attend. Bring a covered dish to compliment boston butt roast. Children will get rides on the fire truck.

Atmore Family Life Center at the old middle school on M. L. K. Ave. provides after school tutoring and a new technology program. Tutoring for exit exams is available. Kiddie Kafe, sponsored by the Bay Area Food Bank, will offer a light meal to children in the afternoon. Call 368-3761, 368-2946 or 446-1878 to register. First come, first served. Limited spaces. Funding provided through donations and grants. Program in partnership with the Poarch Creek Nation and Escambia County Board of Education.
Atmore Women's Club meets at 5:30 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month September through May at the public library. For more information you may call Ann Glaven at 368-3206.
Atmore cancer support group will meet at 7 p.m. every third Monday at Atmore First Assembly of God.

After school craft time will be held at 3:30 p.m. the last Tuesday of each month at the Atmore Public Library, beginning Aug. 26.

The American Legion hosts a Country &Western Dance every Saturday night at the Legion Hall for a $5 donation. Everyone is invited.
The Escambia County School system is searching for children (to age 21) who because of handicap, may be in need of special education and/or related services. Referrals and valuations may begin at 30 months for preschoolers. Also, information regarding services for gifted children and referrals may be made by calling Suzanne Barnett at 296-0633.
NAACP Branch 5027 holdsmeetings at 7 p.m. on the first and third Monday of every month at Gaines Chapel Church. Everyone is invited. membership fee is $30 per year and dues are $5 per month.
After Baby Comes, a free support group for new moms with babies up to six months old, meets the third Thursday of each month from 10 a.m. until noon at Baptist Medical Park in Pensacola. Susan Hannum, RN, IBCLC, hosts the group which deals with parenting and postpartum issues. This free program is open to the public. For information call 434-4567.

Sowell Old Field Cemetery upkeep fund has been started at Goodway Baptist Church. Those with relatives buried there or who have lots reserved are asked to make a donation payable to Goodway Baptist Church Cemetery Fund sent in care of Terry Wiggins, Treasurer, 444 Matheny Road, Atmore, Al 36502.
The seniors of Huxford center invite those 60 and over in the Huxford, Uriah, McCullough, Little Rock and Goodway area and their spouses of any age. The center is located in the Huxford Masonic Lodge across from Huxford School and is open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is no sign, but come on in.
The Atmore Saddle Club will hold a Horse Show/Fun Day the first Saturday of every month. Call Sandy at 446-7517.
The Milton Cemetery Board is attempting to locate relatives of those interred at the historical burial ground. Escambia County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program seeks volunteers to help taxpayers file their income tax returns.
