Obituaries for May 16, 2004 edition of the Atmore Advance
Willard "Poodlum" Johnson Jr.
Mr. Willard "Poodlum" Johnson Jr., 72, of Atmore died Sunday, May 9, 2004. in Atmore.
He was born on February 2, 1932 in Escambia County to Willard and Viana Whidbee Johnson Sr. He was a retired supervisor with Vanity Fair Mills.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma B. Johnson of Atmore; three sons, Dr. Paul E. and Ginger Johnson of Bainbridge, Ga., Michael W. and Brenda McGhee Johnson of Douglasville, Ga., and Gary W. and Linda Johnson of Bainbridge; three brothers, Amos Johnson of Demopolis, Bobby Johnson of Mobile, and Billy Johnson of Decatur; four sisters, Doris Steadham of Foley, Louis Donald of Atmore, Joyce Thomson of Washington Crossing, and Laura Napps of Florance; six grandchildren, Matt Johnson, Adam Johnson, C.J. White, Olivia Johnson, Ashley Johnson, and Felecia Johnson.
Services will be Wednesday, May 12 at 11 a.m. from Brooks Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Grindle and the Rev. Don Davis officiating.
Burial will follow at Serenity Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be, Matt Johnson, Adam Johnson, C.J. White, Cecil Coleman, Hubert Brown, Pete Helton, Earl Bryant, and Aubrey "Tobe" Sellers. Honorary pallbearers are, Claude Bouler, Brooks Memorial Pete Helton Sunday School Class, and Deacons of Brooks Memorial Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to the American Cancer Society, Suite 101, 900 Western American Circle Mobile, Ala. 36609.

Ora Lee McAnally
Mrs. Ora Lee McAnally, 83, of Perdido died Saturday, May 8,
2004, in a local hospital. Mrs. McAnally was a housewife and a member of Atmore Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She is survived by her husband, Earl McAnally; one daughter, Agnes Mooney Madison of Atmore; one sister, Malzie Gregg of Atmore; two brothers, Coy Mullins of Blountston, Riley Mullins of Century; two grandchildren, Jack Madison and Debra Florea; one great-grandchild, Cabb Florea.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 10 at 2 p.m. at Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Grindle and Bro. Fred Gibbs officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Bessie Mae Rolin
Mrs. Bessie Mae Rolin, 81, of Bay Minette died Friday, May 7, 2004, at her residence.
She was born in Escambia County, Ala. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Quitmon Rolin; a son, Elitton Rolin; sister, Cameola Rolin; granddaughters, Karen Ann Rolin and Debra Brooks.
She is survived by her son, Herman Gilbert and Pat Rolin of Bay Minette; two daughters, Alice Lorene Tolin and Lillie Brooks both of Atmore; two brothers, Bill Parker of Mobile and Johnny Parker of Pensacola; two sisters, Annie Ward of Pensacola and Mary Mullins of Century; six grandchildren, Elton Brooks of Rabun, Michael Ray Brooks of Mobile, Danny Brooks and Joseph Gilbert Rolin, both of Bay Minette, Thomas Junior Tolin of Mobile, and Gail Nilson of Brookings, S.D.; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 10 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with the Rev. William Chancelor officiating.
Burial followed at Bay Minette Cemetery.

Janice Godwin Sirmon
Mrs. Janice Godwin Sirmon, 78, died Sunday, May 9, 2004 in Atmore. Mrs. Sirmon was a native and spent most of her life in Oak Grove and was a resident of Atmore since 2002. She was a retired employee from Monsanto after 26 years and an avid fisherman. She attended the Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Annie Godwin; her husband, Richard Sirmon; son, Jerry Gunn; sister, Hazel Curnart; granddaughter, Danielle Merchant; two grandsons, Jeff and Ricky Coleman.
She is survived by two sons, Leamon and Judy Gunn of Pensacola and Arthur Gunn of Walnut Hill; stepson, Robert Sirmon of Greenville; three daughters, Joyce and Ernest Coleman of Enon, Shelia and Pete Coon and Patricia and Randy Martin all of Atmore; three stepdaughters, Sherry, Debbie, and Brenda; two brothers, Lewis Godwin of Starke, Wendell Godwin of Maclleny; two sisters, Evelyn Sepavado of Zwolle, and Una Miller of Scottsboro; sister in law, Winnie Braden of Greenville; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 14 at 2 p.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Nagel officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 13 between 6 and 9 p.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be six grandsons, Josh Coon, Dwight Gunn, Mark Smith, Richard Smith, Paul Coleman, and Buddy Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be the remaining 15 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Covenant Hospice.

Kitty Lee Williams
Kitty Lee Williams "Ma Kitty" died Sunday, May 9, 2004.
Williams was the daughter of the late Byas and Frances Johnson. She was born on February 12, 1916 in Finchburg. She was a member of Faith Tabernacle Holiness Church.
She was preceded in death by one child, Paulette Williams Robinson.
She is survived by five daughters, Helen and Frank Johnson, Odessa Williams, Bertha Lawson all of Atmore, Minnie Hartman of Montgomery, Kitty and Michael Archie of Birmingham; three sons, Harold and Mary Williams, Theodis and Brenda Williams, Cleve Williams Jr. all of Atmore; two sisters, Velma Ray, Bertha and Wheeler Smith all of Pasco; two brothers, Ike and Emily Johnson of Prichard, Rockzell Johnson of Pensacola; one son-in-law, Joseph Robinson of Stockton; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 1 at 1 p.m. at Faith Tabernacle Holiness Church with Dr. Van McPherson Sr. officiating. Viewing will be Wednesday, May 12 from 1 to 7 p.m. at Robinson and Christian Memorial Funeral Home.
