The Poarch Creek Indian SAIL Center hosted the annual Escambia County Council on Aging Picnic Wednesday morning and put on a show for the guests.
To celebrate Older Americans Month, the Escambia County Council on Aging, along with the Poarch, Atmore, Huxford, Brewton, East Brewton and Flomaton SAIL Centers enjoyed lunch, entertainment, door prizes and presentations by various agencies. Members of the Escambia County Commission as well as Mayor Shell and several candidates for the upcoming elections were on hand.
The highlight of the event emphasizing this year's theme "Aging Well, Living Well," was the Poarch's presentation of a Poarch Creek Indian Seniors Hee-Haw Show. The show included appearances by such "Hee-Haw" favorites as Buck Owens (Ken Beck), String Bean (Martin Turberville), Minnie Pearl (Julia Stacey) and Nurse Good Body (Mary Agee).
The performance lasted approximately an hour, and included over 30 seniors from the Poarch center.
