Obituaries for July 4, 2004 edition of the Atmore Advance
Alvin Sinquefield
Mr. Alvin "Bill" Sinquefield, 83, of Atmore, died.
Sinquefield was a native of Monroe County and a resident of Atmore for many years. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Baptist Church were he served in various capacities in the church and was retired from Monsanto (now known as Solutia) in Pensacola. He served his tour in Korea with The United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Sinquefield; mother, Alberta Sinquefield and two sisters and one brother.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Bernice Sinquefield of Detroit, Mich.; three daughters, Glendolyn Sinquefield and Elaine Moore of Lansing, Mich. and Patricia Nolen of Detroit; one son, Alvin Sinquefield Jr. of Detroit; two adopted children, Alvino and Brenda Sinquefield of Atmore and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Baptist Church in Atmore on Monday, June 28, with Rev. Freddie Banks officiating. Burial took place at Fairview Cemetery.
Turner Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
John Horton
Mr. John "Bill" Horton died on Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Metro East in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born to the late Ralph and Lula Horton in Whatley on March 8, 1949.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Willie Lee Horton.
He is survived by three children, Theaya and husband, Antonio McGrew, Carl and wife Sherry Brooks and John Horton all of Mobile; five sisters, Ora Nee Welch, Gussie Ree Horton, Jeannie McGinnis all of Frisco City, Ruby Burrell and Ralphy Jenkins both of Cleveland; three brothers, Robert Horton of Atmore, Charlie Horton and Marshall Horton both of Frisco City; one great-uncle, Marshall Horn of Whatley; cousin, Odell Glenn of Cleveland and three grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives.
Funeral services were held at Indian Ridge Baptist Church on Saturday, June 26, with Rev. Johnny Lynum officiating. Burial took place at Indian Ridge Church Cemetery.
Robinson Christian Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
