The Spay/Neuter Intervention Project of Escambia County will take place throughout the month. If you have an Alabama Medicaid or Food Stamp card, you are eligible for a Snip Certificate from any Escambia County Veterinarian. You may have two pets per card. Copay amounts are $40 for dogs and $25 for cats. If vaccines are needed, there will be a $20 copay. The project is funded by the Alabama Animal control Association and by PetSmart charities, PETCO Foundation and private donors. Call 251-368-9349 for info.

The Escambia County Board of Education will hold its regulary scheduled meeting at 4:30 p.m. at the Brewton Central Office.

Registration for Tri-county League Pee wee Football will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at City Hall.
August 14
The 25th annual "Battle of Mobile" martial arts tournament will be held at the Greater Gulf States Fairgrounds off Cody Road in Mobile beginning at 10:00AM. Admissions $5 for adult and $3 for children. Competitors $45 at the door. For more information call 446-8442

The Escambia County (Al) Historical Society will meet at 3 p.m. in the lobby of the Patterson Auditorium at the JDCC Brewton campus, instead of the museum. This will be the annual "Show and Tell" Program and members and guests are encouraged to bring items of historical interest about Escambia County. The public is invited to attend.
August 21
The Open Buddy Bass Tournament will be held from safelight until 3 p.m. at Isaac Creek Landing located at the Claiborne Lock and Dam on the Alabama River. registration begins at 4:30 a.m. at Paul's Tackle Box. Congressman Joe Bonner will be holding town meetings in Canoe and Uriah. Bonner will be in Uriah Thursday, August 26 at the Country Kitchen from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and he will then be at the Canoe Civic Club from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
