The tables were turned Monday when the dog didn't bite the man, but shot him.
Jerry Bradford, planned to kill the puppies he couldn't give away, according to the Escambia County (Fla.) Sheriff's Office, when one put up more of a fight.
Bradford, 37, of the 4700 block of Rigby Road, had seven puppies from his dog, and shot three of them in the head, according to authorities. While holding the fourth pup, a shepherd mix, the pup's squirming paws hit the trigger of Bradford's .38 cal. revolver and the gun fired, the bullet hitting Bradford in the wrist.
Deputies were called to a local hospital when Bradford checked himself in. Sheriff's Deputies have issued a warrant for his arrest on a charge of animal cruelty.
Crime scene technicians from the Sheriff's office animal control officers went to Bradford's residence. A shallow grave containing three of the puppies was discovered. The four remaining puppies were seized by animal control and a legal hold placed on them. A rifle and the revolver were seized for evidence, according to Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Ted Roy.
By the middle of the week, the news made it on publications like the Boston Globe, and broadcast outlets like CNN Healine News.
