Though there is no known connection to Escambia County, Sherif Grover Smith is interested in the arrest of Jeremy Bryan.
Bryan, 31, is charged with the recent murder of 44-year-old Lisa Nichols in the Mobile area.
"We do consider him to be a subject, but just because his crime down there is consistent with the facts we have in the Melinda McGhee case," Smith said. "We don't have any direct connection. We don't have anything tying him to Escambia County, but we are looking at him very closely as we do any suspect in any case with similar facts."
Last year about this time, the capture of alleged Baton Rouge, La. serial killer Derrick Todd Lee again led to questions in Atmore about McGhee's disappearance.
On March 24, 2003, Melinda Wall-McGhee came home to the Poarch area from her night shift at Oakland Nursing Home in Bay Minette.
Despite searches and investigations, McGhee hasn't been seen since.
