Obituaries for November 3, 2004 edition of the Atmore Advance
Olean Dispel Coon Phillips
Mrs. Olean Dispel Coon Phillips, 71, died Tuesday, Nov. 02, 2004, at her residence in Bay Minute.
She was a home maker and proceeded in death by her husband, John Phillips.
Survivors include her mother, Cora Darrell Dispel of Bay Minute; two sons, Ricky H. Coon of Stockton and Franklin B. Coon of McCullough; one daughter, Candace R. Coon of Atmore; one brother, John H. Dispel of Bay Minute; five grandchildren, Clayton H. Coon, Bridgett M. Buckley, Jessica Tillery, Anna Wilson and Jennifer Coon.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 04, at 2:00 PM at the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Dukes officiating.
Burial will follow at McCullough Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 03, from 6PM until 8PM at the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

David Howard
Mr. David Howard, 59, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004.
He was born Jul. 14, 1945, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Ambus and Annie L. Howard in Camden, Ala. He was preceded in death by six sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include one brother, Calvin Howard of Atmore; one special niece, Elizabeth Williams of Atmore; one devoted nephew, Sammy Howard of Atmore; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 30, at 2:00 PM at Robinson and Christian Memorial Funeral Home with Bishop Dr. Willie L. Williams and Elder Leroy Knight, Sr., officiating.
Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were nephews.
Flowerbearers were friends.

Marvin Leamon "Buddy" Wiggins
Mr. Marvin Leamon "Buddy" Wiggins, 87, died Tuesday, Nov. 02, 2004 in Century.
He was a native of Canoe and a resident of Bratt since 1924. He was retired from St. Regis after 30 years, attended the Bratt First Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Lois Wiggins.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Wiggins and his wife, Lynn of Huntsville, Ala and Marvin Wiggins and his wife, Elaine of Molino, Fla.; one daughter, Addie Camacho and her husband, Don of Pensacola; four sisters, Essie Coleman, Thelma Holley and Glennie Robbins, all of Bratt and Jessie Wiggins of Pensacola; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 04, at 10:00 AM at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Jesse Wood officiating.
Burial will follow at Godwin Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Camacho, Bryan Camacho, Steve Carracino, Jason Carracino, Darin Wiggins and David Wiggins.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 03, from 6 PM to 9 PM.

George Houston Stokes
Mr. George Houston Stokes, 82, died Monday, Nov. 01, 2004, at his residence.
He was a retired mechanic and was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mattie Stokes and his daughter, Cynthia Lee Stokes.
Survivors include his wife, Ada Eyvonne Stokes; two sons, Houston Johnny Stokes of Eightmile, Ala. and George Michael Dodds of Brantley, Ala.; two stepsons, Joseph M. Burgett of Mobile and Randy C. Burgett of Norwood, N.C.; three daughters, Joyce Rebecca Morrell of Machanicville, N.Y., Rhonda Gail Paul of Mobile and Donna Lynn Javam of Goshay, Miss.; one stepdaughter, Myra Lynn Bray of Orange Beach, Ala.; three sisters, Roberta Pinckard of Brantley, Ala; Annie Jo McCartha of Buford, S.C. and Mary Frances Nelson of Poarch; 27 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 1:00 PM2 at the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home with Bro. Thurl Pearson officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Joe Burgett, Randy Burgett, Ricky Nelson, Donnie Nelson, Billy Bray and Max Bray.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Leon Tolin and Junior Matheny.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 02, from 6 PM to 8 PM.

Dorothy Darby Reaves
Dorothy Darby Reaves, 63, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, in Atmore.
She was a homemaker born in Uriah, Ala., on Mar. 13, 1941 to the late George Washington and Fannie Mae Manning Darby and was a resident of Atmore.
Survivors are her husband, William "Bill" Reaves of Atmore; two daughters, Patricia Reaves Brown and husband, Rodney " Shorty" of Robertsdale, Ala., and Kathy Reaves Swift and husband, John of Atmore; one sister, Annette Hassebrock and husband Herman of Bratt; four brothers, Jack Darby and wife, Sherri of Atmore, Ralph Darby and wife, Katie of Davisville, Billy Darby and wife, Jackie of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Alfred Darby and wife, Opal of Dothan, Ala.; two grandchildren Kyle Lynn Brown and Chivas Thompson and wife, Lauren; one great-grandchild Samuel Reaves Thompson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004 at 2:00 PM with Dr. Dewitt Allen officiating.
Burial followed in Robinsonville Baptist Cemetery.
Visitation was held Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 6 PM until 8 PM.

Joe McMillian
Joe McMillian, 58, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004 at his residence.
He was a native of Camden, Ala. and a resident of Atmore for many years. He was a member of Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church and of Masonic Lodge, Good Hope Lodge #152. He was a graduate of Escambia County Training School in Atmore, class of 1965. He worked as a Masonary instructor at Jefferson Davis Community College in Atmore and was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Lee Kate McMillian.
Survivors include his wife, Doris J. McMillian of Atmore; two daughters, Shanta Bowen of Miami, Fla. and Harlisha Martin of Laurel, Md.; three sons, Mitchell Sigler of Lawrenceville, Ga. and Fredrick Martin and Micheal Martin of Atmore; six sisters, Rosie Lee Frierson and Bertha Cage of Muskegon, Mich., Belinda Gross of Lemon Grove, Calif., Brenda DeSilver of Manitee, Calif., Ann Clausell of Seattle, Wash. and Aleen Saunders of Harrisburgh, Pa.; four brothers, Lindsay Gary of Phoenix, Ariz., Micheal Gary of Vale, Austria, Larry Gary of Vancouver, Wash. and Joe Black of Seattle, Wash.; 18 grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at 1:00 PM at Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Chuch with Rev. W.J. Hawthorne, Rev. Joe Hayes, pastor of Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church and Rev.Ywell Cunningham, pastor of Bethel Baptist in Monroeville officiating.
Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation was held Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at Turner Funeral Chapel from 1 PM until 8:30 PM.

Willie Johnson
Mr. Willie Johnson of Moss Point, Miss., died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at a family home in Atmore.

Barbara Delores Gray
Rev. Barbara Delores Gray, formally of Atmore, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at Nassau County Hospital in Uniondale, N.Y.
Services to be announced.

Ebnacer Marshall
Ebnacer (EB) Marshall died Wednesday, Oct. 27, at the age of 62.
He was born Feb. 18, 1942 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Wiley and Julia Marshal in Walnut Hill, Fla. He was preceded in death by one brother Wiley Marshall; three sisters, Rachel Redmond, Vera Watson, and Lois Pryear.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years Dorothy Louise Marshall; six children Gloria Jean Marshall (Ernest Eugene Mitchell), Martha Jean Nettles (Joe Lewis Nettles), Dorothy Jean Showers (Rodney Showers), Ebneezer Marshall Jr. (Angie Hawthorne), John Lewis Marshall (Alicia Marshall), Dewayne Marshall and 17 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 06, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Baptist Church in Walnut Hill with W. White officiating.
Burial will follow in the church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be friends of family.
Flowerbearers will be friends of family.
Visitiation will be held Friday, Nov. 05, 2004, at Robinson Funeral Chapel from 5 PM until 7 PM.
