A stabbing during a domestic argument on Friday resulted in the death of a 47-year-old black female at Cedar Forest Apartments in Alco.
Larry Donnelle Donald, 47, black male of 316 Alco Drive, was arrested and charged with murder in the stabbing death of Geraldine Dailey Stallworth, also of 316 Alco Drive.
Brewton Police Department received a call Friday at 11:29 a.m. reporting the incident. Upon arrival at 11:34 a.m. Police officers found Stallworth lying in the parking lot of 318 Alco Drive, Apartment 4.
"From what we can establish, Mrs. Stallworth had put Mr. Donald out of the apartment a few days prior to the incident," said Lovelace.
According to Brewton Police Chief David Lovelace, witnesses said that Stallworth was at 318 Alco Drive getting her hair done. When she exited the building, she was approached by Donald. Lovelace said, a verbal altercation occurred before Donald stabbed Stallworth 29 times and the accused fled the scene. Paramedics responded, and the victim was transported to D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Donald was apprehended by Officer Rodney Brand a short distance from the apartment building, and a search by Sgt. Gene Powell resulted in the discovery of the weapon in a parking lot garbage can. Donald was transported to Brewton Police Department without incident and was charged with murder.
He is being held at the Escambia County Detention Center.
Heading the investigation are Lt. Randy Nicholson, Sgt. Russell Martin and members of the Domestic Violence Task Force, Sgt. Monte McGougin and Investigator Lee Hall.
