Sonny Smith, Wimp Sanderson coming to Atmore

WNSI FM 105.9 is proud to announce that Sonny Smith and Wimp Sanderson of the syndicated sports show, THE SONNY AND WIMP SHOW, will be in Atmore, Dec.13, 2004 from 4 pm to 6 pm for the grand opening of WNSI FM's new studio located at 805 North Main Street in Atmore. The public is invited.
Both Smith and Sanderson will be available to sign copies of their respective books. Smith will be autographing copies of THE WINNER'S EDGE, a book he co-authored with WNSI's Lou Vickery. The book is for young athletes and coaches of young athletes.
Sanderson will be signing copies of his autobiography: PLAIDS AND PARQUETS. The book is great reading for any avid sports fan.
Smith spent twenty nine years as a college basketball coach with eleven of those coming at Auburn University. He was at Auburn through the decade of the 80's and produced many outstanding star players including Charles Barkley, Chuck Person and Chris Morris of NBA fame. He was the Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year in 1984 and 1988.
Sanderson spent thirty two years at the University of Alabama as both an assistant and head basketball coach. Sanderson noted for his plaid coats had some of Alabama's best basketball teams during his tenure as head coach. Two of his most noted players were: Latrell Sprewell and Antonio McDyess, both of whom are still playing in the National Basketball League. Sanderson also earned SEC Coach of the Year honors twice.
Smith and Sanderson will broadcast their December 14 show from the WNSI studio and then be the guest speakers at the Rotary Club meeting on that Tuesday. They are in demand all over the south for both corporate and civic gatherings. "Atmoreans are in for quite a treat," Vickery said.
