Escambia Academy's Lori Bonds broke the 1,000 point mark in her junior year at the Monroe tournament last week.
Bonds, a junior, started the girls' game against Sparta Academy just 33 points shy of the milestone. By the end of the third quarter, she had poured in 34 points on her way to a stunning 37-point game.
Bonds total for her career at Escambia Academy now stands at 1,047 points.
"I'm very proud of Lori," said head coach Heath Gibson. "It's impressive that she's only a junior. And we have a couple other players who are nearing that mark. She had a great game against Sparta to put her over the top, and she's been a big contributor to the girls' team's success this year."
