Although the playoff run ended sooner than hoped, the season continued on for just one more game for a few Escambia Academy football players.
Fullback Kevin White, tackle J.R. Hall and tight end Buckie Dawson were all selected to play on the AISA's all-star east region football team. EA's head football coach Heath Gibson was invited to be the head coach of the east squad.
The all-star game was held Dec. 3 in Selma, with the east and west teams battling to a tie on a missed extra-point.
No official statistics were kept for the game, but Gibson said his boys played well in the game.
"You know it's just an honor to be picked to go to something like this," Gibson said. "It was a tough way for our season to end, so it was nice to give at least a couple of guys another chance to get out there and have fun. This team has been a great group of guys and I'm really going to miss the seniors."
